Description (Service) | COVID-19 Response For individuals who are not in receipt of Ontario Works (OW) or Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP), Emergency Assistance is available for those facing a crisis or emergency who have no immediate access to other supports. This assistance is temporary in nature. To apply for this benefit, contact the local OW office or through the Emergency Assistance Online site Regular Service: Ontario Works Financial Assistance assists with immediate financial need and employment supports * Monthly financial entitlement is based on family size, housing costs and income Other services include: Families with Children - The Bruce County Children's Activity Assistance Program (BCCAAP) provides funds for families with gross earnings under $30,000 to assist with costs for non-sporting activities * The program provides a maximum of $300.00 per year per eligible child Emergency Dental Services - for individuals who qualify for Ontario Works benefits Employment Benefits - covers costs related to starting a job or searching for employment * Assistance available for job searching, job referral, resume writing, upgrading and job skills training Community Placements - provides assistance to secure a volunteer placement with a non-profit organization Learning, Earning and Parenting (LEAP) - helps young parents finish high school, improve parenting skills, locate and maintain employment Discretionary Benefits - health care supplies such as mobility devices and other health care aides, prosthetic devices, cremation/burials Welfare Fraud Hotline 1-800-394-7867 - to report allegations of fraudulent collection of Ontario Works and Ontario Disability Support Program assistance Satellite Human Services offices are also located at: 910 Queen Street, Kincardine * 519-396-2116 1243 MacKenzie Road, Port Elgin * 519-389-5580 268 Berford Street, Wiarton * 519-534-1286 |

Eligibility | Ages: 16 year(s) and up Adults 18 years and over in financial need * youth 16-17 years in financial need who cannot live at home (funds must be managed by a trustee, guardian or agency) * Financial need is determined by a review of income, liquid assets and living expenses Learning, Earning and Parenting (LEAP): provides financial assistance for parents between the ages of 16-24 who are attending school * Must meet all other Ontario Works eligibility to qualify for the LEAP program * call for more information |
